Chapter 2 by ChocolateAxek ChocolateAxek

Who starts off with which rings?

James West/Rebecca North: Office Workers [Both]

James was sitting at his desk hard at work as he took a bite out of his sandwich. He looked down at himself to see his huge gut sticking out like a sore thumb as if mocking him. James knew that this was the result of all the stress eating that he’s been doing, but he didn’t have the time or energy to fix it since his boss had been running him ragged. While James didn’t have any proof, he had a feeling that his boss, Nico, was purposefully giving him extra work and hard deadlines. He didn’t know the reason for that, but as a result, the muscular body that he had worked for had slowly deteriorated over time leaving nothing but fat in its place.

What sucked the most about it was the looks that everyone started to give him. The looks of admiration, appreciation and genuine joy from his co-workers disappeared, and he was given harsh looks instead. Not everyone did this, but the more work he was given and the larger his gut began, the more people started to look down on him. He eventually gave up on trying to change things and chose to wallow in his misery instead of doing something about it. These thoughts seemed at the forefront of his mind when the receptionist, Susan, walked up to him. James always thought that Susan was hot, but she looked even hotter with her bright red hair tied up in a ponytail. He stared at her as she adjusted her black-rimmed glasses and smiled back at him. He easily smiled back at her as she approached him with no temptation to look down at her modest breasts. Besides, Susan was one of the few people in this place that didn’t seem put off by his appearance, and he’d hate to ruin his friendship by ogling her breasts while she stared at him.

“James, I’m glad to inform you that you’ve won one of the prizes for this year’s raffle.”

Susan handed him a black box that contained a gold ring. He wasn’t that surprised that he won a prize considering that the winners are picked through a lottery, but he was surprised that it was a single gold ring. Usually, the boss gives out the weirdest things for prizes. Last year, he gave the winner a personal orchestra that followed him around all day. The year before that one, he gave the winner tickets to a boy band concert in Alaska. James never knew what his boss was thinking when these things came around, but he’d gladly take a ring over concert tickets and an orchestra any day.

“Thanks for delivering the prize to me, Susan. Did you win anything this year?”

“Not this year. I don’t really care for the lottery considering that nothing that he’s given out so far has been appealing to me in the slightest. Though I wouldn’t have minded having one of these rings.”

“Rings? Does that mean you have to deliver another ring?”

“Unfortunately, I still have to deliver the other prize to Mrs. North,” said Susan as she scowled.

“Is she that bad?”

“Yes, you count yourself lucky that you haven’t met her. She’s an arrogant asshole that has no respect for people. Avoid the fourth floor at all costs.”

Susan wasn’t the type of person to speak badly about someone behind their back without good reason. Hopefully, he doesn’t have to interact with this woman anytime soon. However, it’s probably unlikely that they’ll meet considering that they work on different floors and departments.

“I’ll see you around, James. I’d rather deal with you than her any day.”

Susan waved at him as she walked away. James couldn’t help but stare at her ass as she made her way to the elevator. He slipped on the gold ring on his left hand as he continued to do his work for the rest of the day. After getting some more work done, James decided to call it a day and make his way home. On his way home, his friend Mike called him.

“Hey, how’s it going?”

“Good. Are we still good to meet up for bowling on Saturday?”

“Yeah, everyone that I’ve talked to at least said they were going, but I haven’t called Rick and Amber to see if they wanted to come.”

“It’s a coin toss on whether they’ll be able to come since they’re so busy.”

“Agreed, but could you ask Amber if she’s coming.”

“I can, but shouldn’t you call her since you’re organizing the event this time.”

“That is true, but if I call her, then she’s going to try to flirt with me the whole time and avoid answering the question. Can you do me a solid and call her, please.”

“Okay, but I think you're just avoiding the main problem here.”

James heard the sounds of a police car blaring behind him and knew he was in trouble. He wasn’t driving that much over the speed limit to warrant being pulled over, but he knew that he had to stop regardless.

“Sorry Mike, it's just my luck that I’d get pulled over.”

“Don’t worry about it. I’m sure you’ll be fine maybe you’ll get pulled over by some smoking hot cops like in the movies.”

James looked at his mirror for a split second to see that it was a woman walking toward the car,

“Is there really a sexy cop coming over to my car? Wait, there’s no time for this. I’ll call you later.”

James hung up the phone without waiting for a response.

“Excuse me, sir.”

James rolled down the window to see a woman with long, purple hair looking down at him. He couldn’t see her eyes due to the sunglasses, but there was something else about her that was much more noticeable. Her massive tits were extremely easily easy to spot and were barely covered by her outfit. He stared at them and wished that he could grope them to his heart’s content, but knew it was only a pipe dream.

The woman lowered her sunglasses and with a raised eyebrow asked, “License and registration, please?”

James scrambled for the items requested and handed them over to her. He stared at her amethyst eyes as she checked his ID.

“James West, huh.”

James was so busy with his conversation and her stunning looks that he forgot to ask why she pulled him over.

“Um, Officer…” James looked at the nametag that said, ‘Violet’.

“Officer Violet, why did you pull me over?”

“Your car matches the description of a suspect we're tracking down. I was just making sure you’re not him. Luckily, you’re not him; otherwise you’d be in cuffs right now.”

“That’s good to hear. I’d rather not go to jail anytime soon.”

Violet chuckled as she grabbed a radio off her hip and reported back the false alarm. James wondered if he should try flirting with her. She seemed like she was in a good mood, so maybe he had a chance to get a date out of her despite his unhealthy figure. He didn’t think the chance was very high since she probably gets offers all the time, and he didn’t really have anything at face value that would set him apart from other people.

“Hey Officer Violet, it’s fine if you say no, but do you want to go on a date with me?”

Violet's first reaction was that he was the same as everyone else and to reject him before going back to her job. Except, reality changed, and she now wanted to go on a date with him. She hadn’t been on a date in a long time and wanted to have some fun, so she thought, “why not”.

“Yeah, I’ll go on a date with you.”

Violet opened her notepad and scribbled her number on one of the pages before ripping it out and handing it to him.

“Call me,” said Violet as she walked back to her car.

James couldn’t believe she gave him her number. Granted, it could’ve been fake, but it would’ve been much easier to simply reject him if that was the case.

“This is the best day ever,” said James as he drove the rest of his way home.

Rebecca was sending out the last of her emails for the day when she noticed Susan walking up toward her. Rebecca sighed and wondered what Susan wanted with her now. Since Larry never wanted to handle any of the complaints people directed toward her, he would always send Susan to mediate between her and the other party. Unfortunately, that meant she was quite familiar with this cute redhead. Ugh, she can’t believe she called this girl cute even in her head.

“So, what are you here to accuse me of today?”

“I don’t know, why don’t you confess now and save me the trouble.”

“I never do anything wrong, so there’s nothing to say. Unlike you, I stay out of trouble.”

Susan sighed, “I’m not here today about any complaints. I’m here to give you the prize you won in the raffle.”

“At least you’re doing something useful for once,” says Rebecca as she snatches the case out of her hand. She opens it to see a beautiful silver ring that she immediately puts the ring on her right hand.

“Why do you have to act like such a petulant child?”

“I know I’m not. Are you a petulant child?”

“No, I’m not.”

“Could’ve fooled me. You certainly are a goody little two shoes, aren’t you?”

“You know I’m not,” said Susan as her form began to shift. Her attire shifted from a professional one into a sluttier one consisting pair of booty shorts and a white t-shirt. Out of nowhere, two large golden hooped earrings appeared on her ears like they were always there as Susan blew a large pink bubble into existence.

Susan’s loved breaking the rules, she couldn’t remember a time recently when she wasn’t causing trouble in some way, shape, or form. She purposefully wore these clothes because she knew that they weren’t proper workplace attire. She popped the bubble she blew, and a loud sound echoed across the room. She saw one of the other workers fumble in their seats as they recomposed themselves and got back to work. She loved interrupting people’s work by simply popping a bubble in their general vicinity. She couldn’t quite explain it, but there was something strangely satisfying about it to her.

Rebecca said her last sentence as a joke since she couldn’t remember a time when Susan acted like she gave a shit about following the rules. She was honestly surprised she even gave her the silver ring in the first place. Then again, she said that it was just an excuse to cause a disturbance on the fourth floor. Rebecca stopped thinking about it as she got back to work. Susan popped another bubble as she made her way out of the room.

Who do we follow? James or Rebecca?
